Some questions, my beloved
That my heart calls out, and poses to thee.
For my first, I must query your mind:
For I must know: where might I myself find?
Is it at the forefront, as my thoughts have placed you
Decorating gardens of mosaic tulips and divine carnations
While you sing the songs of your embellished heart
To make heavenly wonders stand their height
And bring them back to earth?
And the world: how does the world look to you now?
Is it that same dun fog, that has pestered your histories of sadness
Or is it in a halo, breathing a warming glow from beneath it all
Dressed in new charm and excitement from glistening possibility?
The words: do the words sound different, or the same?
Do you listen to old love songs and hear them anew?
Have you too found new meaning where you thought definitions known
And do you find new ideas where the old used to be
In absurdity, overthrown?
And the wind, does it speak to you in touches, that remind you of familiar skin?
Do the sensations you thought you once knew reach deeper now, reach within?
To touch a forgotten core, that has been unmoved for years
And remind this petrified body the lost meanings of happiness and cheer?
Has it all been toppled and upset? The world you thought you once knew
Is it dressed in new glories, novel wonders, and opportunities for happiness untapped?
Tell me, my beloved, for only your answer can soothe my mind
Have you too been possessed by this love, as have I?
